Create A Lower Tox Kitchen for $100
Let's create a lower tox kitchen on $100! If I could only make one lower tox kitchen swap, I would invest in one single stainless steel pan that I use the most. Are you new to my page? Hi welcome! So glad you are here!
We are currently in a posting series on lower tox in store finds (across many stores) but keeping budgets in mind! These are to help people take smaller more realistic steps to living low tox without feeling defeated or overwhelmed.
Cooking Pans
What is your most used cooking pan? For me it's hand down a frying pan - it's also the only non Tox pan I had for years to cook with. I would grab a stainless steel pan, I wouldn't personally grab because they chip, scratch and break much more easily. They had this awesome medical grade stainless steel one. But they often have all clad (best pick). If I could find a cheaper one I would grab that and then also grab a pot too for cooking
Pan $24.99
Cooking Utensils
Yes, bamboo is lower tox but you need to make sure it says 100% bamboo so you can verify they don't use glues or lacquers.
Utensils $5.99
Glass Storage
Cutting back on plastic is huge - but especially if you heat up food! I would grab glass storage containers! So many options! Silicone or bamboo lids are awesome but I wouldn't personally grab still use these. Curious on how toxic silicone actually is? Read the facts here!
Storage $14.99
Mixing bowls
I found flipping all clad mixing bowls! If you're here don't fit your budget I would still aim for glass or stainless steel. Start with one - it's usually a lot cheaper than a set.
Mixing bowl $14.99
Cutting Board
As mentioned earlier, look for 100% bamboo. These are typically cheaper than other wood cutting boards (or glass or stainless steel) and you can usually get them in a set for cheaper than the other options.
Cutting board $12.99
Salt
Ditch the ionized salt. They usually have a ton of Himalayan pink salt for a cheap price. Much better option!
Salt $2.99
Avocado Oil
Finding any pure avocado, evoo etc is difficult - even when they say they are 100% they are often times still cut with cheaper cooking oils. HOWEVER, I would personally still use avocado oil because it is a lower tox option and versatile. I love cooking with butter but let's be honest, it goes quickly and pricing ads up fast.
Avocado oil $9.99
Glass Drinkware
Okay, I really would prefer a glass baking dish first before glass drinkware but my store had zero options. So I would grab these drinking glasses.
Drinkware $7.99
Measuring Cup
Super easy swap and I have even found them cheaper than this!
Measuring cup $2.99
